The workshop was founded by Pierre Gerber in 1934.
Since then the workshop has been renowned for the pursuit of sound quality and for restorations.
It has been welcoming many famous artists but also amateurs and professional musicians.
Born into an artistic family, Pierre Mastrangelo graduated from the Mittenwald School before
completing his training in restoration at Charles Beare’s workshop in London and then at Etienne Vatelot’s in Paris.
He worked as Pierre Gerber’s assistant from 1971 to 1987, when he became his successor in the same way of thinking.
Since 1991, he has been assisted by Frédéric Rainer who, after having worked for many years at Vidoudez’s workshop in Geneva,
brings his experience of bow repairing.
Olivier Legrand joined the workshop in 2011. After having graduated the Mittenwald School in 1999, he improved his skills in restoration with René Morel and Emmanuel Gradoux-Matt in New York, and with Dominique Camard and Alexandre Snitkovski in Lyon.
